Rights Awareness Workshops
Building a Rights-Literate Society Through Awareness Workshops
At the Center for Legal and Legislative Studies (CLLS), we believe that knowledge is power. Rights Awareness Workshops are a cornerstone of our community empowerment strategy, designed to educate individuals and communities about their fundamental rights, responsibilities, and legal avenues available to them. These workshops create informed and empowered citizens who can advocate for themselves and others, fostering a culture of accountability and justice across Uganda.
Objective of the Workshops:
- To raise awareness about fundamental human rights and civic responsibilities.
- To educate vulnerable and marginalized groups about their legal rights and protections.
- To equip individuals with tools to advocate for themselves and their communities.
- To bridge the gap between communities and access to justice.
Our Rights Awareness Workshops have been a cornerstone of empowering communities across Uganda. These workshops are designed to bridge the gap between individuals and their understanding of legal systems, providing them with the tools and confidence needed to address their rights-related challenges effectively. The workshops aim to create a legally informed and active citizenry that can contribute meaningfully to the pursuit of justice and equity.
Reaching Thousands Across Uganda
The workshops have been conducted in various districts across Uganda, covering the central, eastern, western, and northern regions. By targeting vulnerable and underserved populations, these workshops have succeeded in educating individuals from diverse backgrounds, including rural farmers, women, youth, and marginalized groups. Each session is tailored to address the specific legal and social challenges faced by these communities, ensuring that the information shared is relevant and actionable.
Family DisputesParticipants learn about inheritance laws, land rights, and legal protections against domestic violence. This enables them to resolve conflicts within their families and communities peacefully.
Workplace Rights:
Attendees gain insights into labor laws, helping them understand their rights as employees, such as fair wages, safe working conditions, and freedom from discrimination.
